Source for good lead wire?

I bought tons of it from GA Avril in Cincinnati a long long time ago. They're still in business.
Corbin has different diameters.
$6 a pound? Nope.

Sierra uses 4 different lead alloys for there cores.
"We make the core of the bullet from four lead alloys: 6% antimony-4% tin, 6% antimony, 3% antimony, 1 1/2% antimony, and pure lead. For each bullet, we select the proper lead alloy for the best combination of accuracy and expansion"
I never made a jacketed bullet. Casting lead for 50 years.

Cores for jacketed bullets. Not for cast bullets per say.
