Sound suppressors

I think you might be on the wrong site for that but if you go to http://www.silencertalk.com/forum/ im sure they will be able to help you out.

joey-anyone can get a silencer as long as your state allows them and you are not a felon. Here in ny we cannot own them at all. The BATFE is where you get the paperwork. You need to be fingerprinted also. The permit is actually a tax stamp.

Just went to their website; they won't let you browse without registering, and they won't let you register as a member with any of the normal e-mail addresses like yahoo, hotmail, etc. So it looks like a "Business oriented" site that discourages the average joe from signing up. Too bad!

No apologies necessary Nathan, I was just somewhat put off by the site's refusal to accept the most standard e-mail providers. I had the same problem with "sniper country" when I tried to register there. I don't know if they are pimping for aol or what, but it's their loss as I see it.

hey, about the suppressor. You can buy one out of state and have it shipped to your state if the laws allow it. But, the easy thing to do is find a dealer in your state, pick out the suppressor you want from them. The dealer will have the paper work in a kit more than likely. If you can pass a background check to buy a pistol you can buy a suppressor. the fee to the gov is 200 dollars. now the dealer may charge you 50 or 100 dollars just for sending in the paper work. You will have to go to your local police station or prosicuting attny and have them sign off that you are not a nut or at least they don't know that you are. then get two sets of finger prints and two passport photos. after all of that the dealer will put the serial number of the supp. you want and mail it off. it usually take six to eight weeks. I have a john norrel pistol and that is how i did it.

SRT arms has a good web site that lists the states that are forbidden. The whole process generally takes 3 to 4 months. There are variables as to how busy the manufacturer is. There are several good ones out there. You can do alot of shopping on the internet. Gemtech is another builder I like. But make SURE you have no problems before you start as some people have never bought a gun from a dealer and do not know if they are,OK).Most of the time people that find out they have trouble discover that the money they spend is not refundable. Shooting with a supressor is a kick. No ear protection and hearing the whop in a dog town is a hoot. Wish I had one or two.
