sorting and prepping brass

What are the steps for sorting, prepping and uniforming 6mm Lapua BR brass to turn it into match 6mm Dasher brass. sort by weight ,true primmer pockets, neck turn etc.

On the No Turn brass, what variation in neck thickness is acceptable?

I'm sure this has been covered before but I must not be typing in the correct search term.

Thanks
Hal

I guess everybody went to bed early last night and are sleeping in late this morning, so I'll take an initial stab at it. If you are asking what sort of brass prep needs to be done before you fireform them to 6 Dasher, there is none. Pick your method of fireforming: load and shoot, false shoulder, Cream of Wheat, etc and commence to blasting.

I shoot a No Turn Neck and didn't do anything to the necks before or after fireforming. One caution though....Federal 205 M's worked wonderfully for me during fireforming and the next firing, but on the third, I started piercing primers. Which resulted in a broken sear on my Jewel trigger. I switched then to CCI 450's and they gave me better accuracy.

Best of luck,

I have 2 no turn Dashers and one .268" neck. All of them get primer pocket uniforming but I leave my flashholes alone. On the no-turns I accept no more than .0007" variation I should probably sort to tighter tolerance but they work fine so far. On the fitted neck Dasher I prefer to turn before forming to get it cut to avoid the donut. I used to use the false shoulder method with bullet fireforming but lately I've been using false shoulder with COW with acceptable results. Hope this helps.

Nate
