something new?

Just wondering if it would be possible to neck down
a .270 to say a .243 caliber or smaller for something real fast? I don't know just wondering.

If you can think of it then it has probably already been done. Here is a little historical data. http://www.thehighroad.org/archive/index.php/t-67821.html. If I am not mistaken RCBS currently makes dies for it along with an improved version with a 40 degree shoulder.

Hey, thanks for the info. I was really jst putting
stuff together, I figured that combo would move
way to fast though, but maybe not. That is kinda neat, thanks again for the link.

J -

The wildcat you imagine is basically the same as a " 6-06 ".
Perhaps some difference in neck angles, but case length and capacity would be comparable.

More and more powder, does not necessarily equate to more and more velocity.

If you have not already, read P.O. Ackley's two-volumne treatise on wildcats and reloading.

Best of luck in your endeaovrs.

270WSM or 300WSM necked down to 6mm/.243. Just finished the gun and ready to start load work. Trying 1 in 8 twist 31" barrel 105gr. bullet.
