Wanting to make another small ring mauser sporter and am looking for a good small ring action. Not looking for anything that two Ethiopians have used to harvest corn with but a clean a serviceable action. Will be barreled in 7x57 or 257 roberts. Thanks for looking. E

It is a complete rifle. It is pretty rare lightweight receiver. You may search it.


This is when I disassembled it to clean it. It has receiver sights and not tapped for a scope. Probably has much value and too much to pay to get a receiver.

I know diddly RE Mauser models. I do have a nearly new early Post-WWII Yugoslavian Mauser I had a gunsmith do some custom work on. Spoonbill bolt, and the side lever magazine release lever; as well as jeweling the bolt and extractor. Unfortunately he broke the rear safety off before passing away during COVID. and lost the trigger. His family sent it back and said it was that way when he got it. It is drillled and tapped, with the screws still in the holes. The trigger was not an issue, I had planned on getting DST's and kicker from NECG. I think I ran a four digit tab with Mark Cromwell (the owner) for four or five years.
Bluing was done at the time, and is still 98%.

If it is something you are interested in, PM me. I also got a pair of "fraternal twins" 95% inletted stocks (where you cut a tree into four pieces, and the two top and bottom are mirror images) that could go with it.
Classic pattern. I am going to finish one in a 6.5x68mm Shuler. Think 264 WM minus the belt.

It is not a small ring. A very good receiver if the lugs aren't set back and has been recase hardened.

is a post war Yugo a small ring?

I'm pretty sure it is a large ring small thread. The Accurate Reloading forum had a sticky for all the Mausers with specs.

Unless you had a pretty rare yugo, it's most likely (like 98%+) a large ring large thread but intermediate length receiver
