Small cart for walking about hunting

This past June, I spent more time walking around shooting PD than I have in the past. I start off by using my shooting bench and later switch over to my tripod. I use the tripod because it much easier to relocate.

My tripod has a shoulder strap and only weighs 5 lbs so it's easy to carry. I put a few odds and ends in my back pack and take off. I've been very successful on my walks and will do more in the future.

I'm considering a small cart that I can pull behind me as I walk around, such as a garden cart. The only person I know that uses one on a regular basis is a poster on this forum by the name of SilverFox. He has many good stories of his PD exploits posted here and on the Saubier forum.

Anyone else using a cart of some type? If you are, please post a photo and tell us about using it.

The photos below are from some of the threads by the SilverFox.

Will work but not on huge tracts of land, that's why i have an ATV, walking 1000 acre plots is a time waster and non - productive. however that is a clever set up you have for smaller areas.

Somewhere out in my 2.5 car garage I have an old golf cart rigged to drag 3 rifles/shooting tripod & a small stool around my GH hunting farms. I think I have used it twice. mikeinct

I used a cart like this to hike miles out to my duck hunting spot.

Yeah a quad or side by side would be great. I don't feel like trailering it 4,000 miles round trip. I get good gas mileage in my truck, but towing something that far it would really drop. With gas prices today it wouldn't be worth it.

i hear ya'. i have strapped ladder stands, bow case, and on separate occasion duck decoy bag and waders unto an old school golf cart. used the set up on wma's where they gate off the roads. it was still a chore and it hasn't been out of the shed in several seasons now....

Funny to see this. I just got home from picking up a used BOB jogging stroller. I've seen some videos of a guy who converted one for guns. A few guys I shot the Niteforce ELR match were using a Creedmoor cart. Very nice, but not for $500. I toted my 28lb gun, tripod and pack all weekend, didn't dig it too much.

Large wheels roll easier. I would suggest a tire with no air, cactus will ruin your day sooner or later.

Leroy turns in a good report and I enjoy each and every one.

I vote for a bigger rifle over a spot and stalk. I shoot the edges at different access points to where the dogs are.

Several years ago, I encountered a ground hog hunter that was transporting his gear in a manual old style two-wheel golf cart that he modified to securely hold his rifle and gear.

He was shooting custom rifle that he built, an 8mm Rem Magnum neck down to 6MM with a 30" very heavy contour barrel with a bipod attached. In addition, he had a shooting mat, spotting scope and other gear. He was a long-range specialist and gun smith.

I tagged along totally intrigued and while I can't remember the details, I witnessed him shoot ground hogs well in excess of 500 yards.

I can't find the pic of my loaded golf cart. It Hauled my old faithful Win. 22-250 Stealth model, My Sako custom Tac 20 & A well-worn Savage Bolt Gun rebarreled to 243 Win. All have & had top quality scopes. My binos/laser range finder. nice folding shooters seat, tri pod. water & snacks. I was formidable only 15 years ago. 22-250 say 300 M, the Tac 20 set for about 425M. The 243W sighted at 500M ... A Blasting we would go.
