Small caliber specialty pistol scopes

I now have a 22K-Hornet Contender, 14 inch. Just looking for responses from guys shooting similar (up to 223) for PD etc. Wondering what scope you use on your pistol and how you shoot it...rest, bipod, tripod, off hand....

I have a T-10...but it is so long...wondered what other guys are using. I will be shooting from a tripod or bench, groundhogs or PD.

My dad uses Burris 3-12 and 2-7 on his contenders mostly. He does have a 223 one that has a Burris 1,25-4 but he thinks they dont make that one any longer. On his 7TCU and XP100 he has a 4x Leupold, I dont remember what he has on his 243 Savage Stryker. He started handgun hunting with a smith classic hunter in 44 mag with a simple 1x tasco pistol scope. he killed quite a few hogs with that set up. For hunting in blind he uses sandbags and taken deer to 130 yds. at the range he just uses his rifle front rest with a bag under the grip.
Hope that gives you some ideas

Mine is a 12" Full Diameter 22 K hornet no brake on the Encore so its a little heavier. The barrel is a Bullberry so it uses a hanger bar and I have two different forends, one a 2" wide with a stud for a Harris 6-9 bi pod and a 3" flat for the bags. I shoot it prone on the ground from a bi pod or pillow stuffed back pack. I also shoot it from a portable bench from the bi pod or bags. It takes a good rear squeeze bag with the bi pod and homemade ones work the best. Scopes, sometimes I use a 3-12 usa made Burris and sometimes a 4-14 Leupold rifle scope. Just depends on what I'm doing or where I'm going. The pistol doesn't move enough to worry about getting smacked. Just pull back a little on eye relief if its a concern.

On the bigger pistols I use a brake and rifle scope on them. Rifle scopes take specialty pistols to a new world.

Iowa, what rings do you generally use? I am planning on mounting a T10 on some Burris signature Zee, hoping mediums are high enough. I think straight 10X will be enough for 200 yard PD. Scope is gonna be almost as long as barrel! I have a 14 inch TC forearm and a carbine length (as long as barrel) Bullberry I might shorten. i will need another hanger...

Anybody else shoot a 22 Hornet or K hornet in TC 14 inch? Expected groups? My carbine shot 3/4 inch and it was 24 inches.

On my Ruger SRH I had a 2X Leupold. I preferred it over the 4X. I tried a variable but just could not get the eye relief to work for me.
On my Encore pistols I have 4X Leupold scopes and like them. With a Leupold I have an excellent scope which will not fail me.

I had a 14" hornet, I used a 4-16x50 vortex on it in Burris signature rings. It was sub MOA at 200, but not much under 1 3/4" I ended up trading off that barrel because I always grabbed my 14" .223 contender instead.

10x should be enough for PDs at 200. I've used 15-16x out to 800-900 before

snert, I always use Burris Signature rings on everything, and the mediums almost always give me plenty of clearance. I leave the rings mounted on the scope and its really easy to change scopes on the TC bases that way. I agree with Adam, your T10 should be fine (magnification) for the hornet out to 200 and as far as you care to stretch the Hornet. With crafted hand loads to your barrel 3//4" groups with the Hornet should not be a problem. This is just me saying, the Hornet is OK for Iowa but if I'm heading out for PDs I'll grab the 223 15" first. In the 223 I like 11.5 grains of Blue Dot with a 50 grain bullet for up to 250 or so then switch to a max charge of H322 with 55 BTs for longer distance. If I had a faster than the 1-12 twist I would use heavier bullets.

Thanks, that helps me whle ordering. I LIKED the K aout to 225 or so witht he carbine barrel.

I sold my carbine barrel, kept the 500 brass. Then fell prey to the "have brass no barrel" thing! If it shoots good I will thread it, add a long pinned brake to make carbine and go forth. Eaier to transport interstate that way.

Now, off to order rings...

Good luck and keep us posted on your endeavor. Several of us on here really like the specialty pistols and shooting them.

A little late to the party. I only run one EER (burris 3-12) scope on a xp100r 260. All of the rest of my SP's are utilizing rifle scopes (with brakes) all the way up to my .338 AX.
As far as shooting set-ups.... mostly shoot off a bipod and rear "pillow" bag. Also use Bog Gear tripod. But whatever works given the situation.
Your fixed 10x should be great as long as you can adjust the focus. Should be a hoot!!

Well I set it up and shot it for group. i was under 1 inch at 100 easily enough. However, I struggled with getting the same eye position. I know this is "operator error". But I decided that I would add a few inches to the barrel, pin it and run it as a carbine. Same scope.

Thanks for the help guys!
