A short video clip a friend and I put together from a rat outing recently I thought you all would enjoy. It proves beyond doubt that ground squirrels, despite their name, CAN indeed fly! 
The "ring" heard at the shot, is from concussion of the discharge near an aluminum irrigation pipe wheel line that was about 5 yards in front of the muzzle.

Of course, it helps flight characteristics when the flight is induced via a 204, 20VT, or even as in this case, a little 221Fireball.........
