Slow powder in semi-autos

I realize this is not exactly on topic for this forum but there are some very intelligent folks here who know what they are talking about. This is actually regarding handguns but I imagine it translates. I have found it possible to obtain higher-than-SAAMI spec velocities with slow powder in a cartridge that usually uses fairly fast powder. My question is whether the added velocity stresses the firearm even though the pressure is less than SAAMI spec. This is regarding a 1911/230gr. cast bullets/Blue Dot powder/ 935 fps (measured) @ 17,000 psi (according to the Lyman manual).
Thanks,
Mike

Short answer no. You may get more flash. I happened on to some N350 at a very cheap price and load that in the 40S&W and the 45ACP. On the slow side but shoots great.

In a 45 I don't think you have any issues, in a gas operated weapon you may find some problems if the resulting pressure at the gas port is significantly higher than design.
