SLEEVE HAS BEEN REMOVED

I’ve sleeved a few barrels 20 plus yrs ago just testing theories. My go to material , after trying many , was lead . Heavy as hell but it worked better than the epoxies I tried .
Use a lathe and be careful when you get close . Don’t be surprised if the barrel is heavily ground for adhesion.

Now to remove the old glue?
Two choices.
Mechanically, or heat. No idea what the epoxy is, but I've never come across one that wasn't resistant to solvents once cured.

Me, I'd use heat- judiciously (propane). Outdoors as the smoke and fumes are noxious, and see how it reacts to it. Most will soften and crumble where you can just scrape it away. Or, sanding drum on a dremel for most of it, then heat for the last bit so as not to be sanding on the barrel itself.

One of those things where you just gotta get into it, and see what works.
