Site contribution

Tim Singleton

Gold $$ Contributor
I've been on this forum just over a year. I wouldn't know where to start or how to begin to place a value on all the information I have taken in. Then there is the parts and equipment I have found in the classifieds. Some things are almost un obtainable else where.
I have been tryin to remember to donate each time I make a buy or sale.
the knowledge available here is price less.

I would encourage those who have never donated to think about what this site means to them and consider some amount of donation

Tim

It would be cool if we knew just how many people out of the 20,000 plus members have donated.

Im in the same shoes as you. Been shooting my whole life, but only been reloading and "precision" shooting with bolt actions for about a year. The amount of info that I received on this site is priceless! I have found items on here that I could not find at the local shop too. There is a few individuals on this site that I PM on a regular basis and ask questions because they have many many years of experience. I would of never found these guys to help me if it wasnt for this site. Donating to this site is a must! I wont deal with the guys with 20+ transactions and 1000+ post that are not site contributors. Nothing personal against them, I just wont deal with them.

That's been on my mind too. Seeing guys with 3000 posts and 40 transaction but are not contributers I think I'll pass on their item from now on

5 bux sounds good to me. Thats 5 bux the site could use. My previous post I said "nothing personally against them". I meant that. Im sure you and the others that have lots of post and transactions that have not yet donated are great guys. Its a respect thing to me and thats it. Simple as that and nothing at all personal! Hey fredhorace77, check your PM inbox. Im sending you a now.

keep in mind that some like myself may not have donated money directly but have chosen to donate thru other means such as logging into this site to go to Amazon.com for purchases. so not all members are not technically non-donating members as you suggest.

BTW how do u know a member has donated more than once. One could donate 5 dollars just to get the so called "banner or awesomeness " "site contributor" and has not donated in the last 100 years

[Comment moderated]Shopping through Amazon (using the link on this page) is a good thing, and it will help if more people do that. But I encourage all dedicated Forum users to consider making a direct donation as well. Come on man, be proud to donate to this site and get your banner.

What makes a person think that because another guy has the banner it is the only way they are donating? Or that the $5 is only the one time?

The point to this post. Was, it is an awesome site with free classifieds. Un limited amounts of information. The guys on here have helped my shooting more in 6 months than I could have ever gotten on my own. I'm probably not the only guy thinking that.

When you find that Shehane savage tracker stock on here you've been looking for for weeks and weeks. No where to be found. It's worth another 5 bucks donated when i buy the stock to me to be able to find items like this

Ok, I have to ask. I donated a fairly nice sum about 3 weeks ago, and still nothing on my profile indicates that I am a site contributor. That in and of itself is not a big deal, but then someone says they won't deal with anyone who is NOT a contributor, how would he know my status? I mean I guess I could post my bank statement, but that would feel odd. Again, I really don't care, but I do sell and trade stuff at very reasonable give away prices from time to time and I don't want to leave someone out simply because I didn't get a tag somewhere.

Sometimes it takes a little while to up date your status. Same thing happened to me. Send the forum boss a pm he moves on it pretty quickly

If I'm reading the membership list correctly there are 21,750 members. Of that amount 1080 are contributors or sponsors that's about 5%

1. Regarding the delay in recognition. If it's a check, it can take a while because it has to be received, logged, signed, deposited, then the info forwarded to me. Also, a good percentage of the time we can't cash the check because it is made out to the wrong party such as "Six BR". Checks should be made out to "Jeff Williams" who handles the checks. Also, sometimes donators by check do not tell us their Forum name and we can't figure it out from info on the check (which might be a business).

If contributions come via PayPal, we can't figure out your Forum profile unless you provide a note with this info while donating. We try to back-track using email addresses and names, but this doesn't always work. Often the email account used for Paypal is different than the one used for registration. All this causes "slippage".

2. We receive about 350 donations a year. That's about 1.6% of our Forum membership. Currently the "site contributor" status doesn't expire after 12 months, but we are thinking about asking for $10 per year to maintain site contributor status. But we need a way to extend this for those generous guys who have given $40, $50, or even $100. This is not as easy as it sounds because our Forum software was never designed to handle subscriptions.

Notice a name or two that seem to always have something for sale but do not show as site contributors. I won't buy from someone like that and I'm sure there are others that feel the same way. The free classifieds are great and so are the guys that help fund this great site.

Yep. And some of us have contributed, but alas... no such mention is next to our screen names. So, maybe take that into account. :)

As Has been demonstrated. If you have contributed and that hasn't been up dated. Shoot the Forum boss a pm he will check into it and make the update.
As was my case I failed to attach my username when I made the Paypal donation. I sent a pm with my username it was updated within a day

Point is it was my mistake

And a worthwile bump too. I have been lurking for a while and lately have been getting a lot of useful information as am getting more into centerfire bench shooting after submersing myself in rimfire for a long time.

I just made a contribution, be it small. But I know a bit about what it takes to 'keep the machine moving'.

This thread was a good reminder.

Just found a reamer on here that I've been looking for. When we find that item we can't seem to locate anywhere else. That's a good time to contribute
