Single shot follower

Have a standard Rem 700 action that I am looking to re-barrel to 6mmBR. Would prefer to go to a single shot style with one of the glue in type followers. I hear/see a fair amount about the Davidson and PTG followers, is one better than the other? Seems like the Davidson is a bit cheaper depending on where it is purchased, but the price is close enough that I would consider spending a couple extra bucks if one is "better" than the other. Anyone have any experience? Thanks.

If you don’t want a semi-permanent change consider a “Bob-Sled”, you can find at Creedmoor sports among other places.

I just turned my Rem 722 into a single shot. Used JB Weld to install the follower. Have a 1K BR single shot tracker stock for it that I still need to install and bed. Action, bolt and recoil lug were nitrided first. Used Aluma-black on the follower as a final finish but don’t have a photo on hand showing the follower blacked out.
Turned out good.

Thank you all for the input on these. I do not have bottom metal, mag box, spring or follower, which is why I was leaning towards the glue-in option. Just a way to save some money as they sure don't give away bottom metal.

It’s a PTG.

All followers work well and you won’t hear anything bad about any of them. I personally prefer the PTG because it’s nice and thick with its own built in feed ramp. The PTG feed ramp uses the shoulder of the brass to elevate the round up into the chamber. Some other followers do not have feed ramps built into them so they use the factory 700 magazine feed ramp which utilizes the the bullet to elevate the cartridge into the chamber.

As you can see, the radius of the PTG follower matches up very nicely with the receiver if wanting to do a glue in job.
