Single Shot Bolt Action or Repeater???

Some people say that a single shot solid bottom action is stiffer and therefore better. But I have seen some very accurate repeater actions. Some cartridge are hard to get to feed from a repeater. I think it is goes to the types of shooting your doing. IMHO

I have the same question about the single shots. Found that Savage has a very good price on their 12FV-S,Single shot)....$110 less than the 12FV. Both are in 223.

For most uses, it's just a matter of need and preference. There is some wisdom that with the very long 28-32" barrels a single-shot action is stiffer and will resist bending better. There is also a "myth" that single-shot actions are better, and I'm somewhat under it's spell, but very little hard evidence to prove it. If you want smooth single feeding with a repeater you can insert a follower in the magazine and have the best of both worlds.

Very, very few BR shooters use a repeater, and that in itself is a good thing to consider.
I prefer one shot done right, to just having a bunch ready to go.............

I have woodchuck rifles built on both 40X single shots and 700 repeaters. I use my repeater as a single shot. I would use what action I already had. If buying an action I would lean toward a single shot.

nitro-l think the single shot stock "no cut for the mag." has
a lot to do with the good shooting of these guns.l have found
a 700 varminter shoots better in a 40x stock no mag cut,not a lot
better,but some.

i have two full bore rifles 223 rossi single shot break action and enfield in 308 with 10 shot mag bolt action . i can get,on a good day) near one hole group @ 100 yds with both, but i load long in 308 15 thou off lands and so can not use the mag anyway but it dosnt matter because being so accurate they are both one shot wonders on critters . i would be interested in hearing from a bench rest shooter to see how they would rate single shots like the thompson contender or the rossi .
