Single shot adapter for Remington 700

Any recommendations for a 222, the one I am currently using is aluminum and it doesn't feed as smooth as I want.

I bought a 3D printed one. It worked ok, but not perfect.
I removed the barrel, measured the OD of the bolt. Turned some scrap aluminum down to size. Some release agent and some epoxy putty on top of the printed follower. Works like a charm. 17 Fireball lays right there and goes right into the chamber straight and true.

PTG makes one contoured to the bottom of a Rem. receiver and has a dip in the middle so that it tips the front of the cartridge up to enter the chamber. Works better on the smaller cartridges than the ones with just having the feeding groove contoured the same from front to back. The latter ones feed the larger size cases fine.

One really simple and cheap way is to take a empty pound jug of powder and cut a piece out of it that is roughly the size of your mag well in the action.

JB weld in place with a few dabs at the corners and you have a single shot follower.

I have one for my 6br. It was a bdl model r700. When i jad my gunsmith put it all together he left out the mag spring and follower. He installed the singleshot follower and made a plate that bolts in to hold it in place and can be removed if i ever want to.

Just ordered one up. :) May solve the problem I have with my Savage and my Wildcat "20 TCM" round. Looks like they're custom made so it may be a while.
Wasn't looking forward to doing much shooting with it. Round had to be pointed up and into the chamber before you even think about closing the bolt.
Did discover that that short wildcat round, dropped into my XP action opening feeds like it was made for it. Drop round in, close bolt, no issues. :D:cool:

The PTG one works well. On stocks with a magazine cut, a piece of foam rubber in the mag well will support the follower w/o pressure on the action like the follower spring does.

Good shootin'. -Al

On my Savage rig, it's a converted to single shot repeater so it's a matter of replacing the bottom mag adapter follower. If when installed, it works like my XP action? :D Won't know till I try.;)

So far, maybe 70/80%? Still working, grinding and fitting. Not ready to give up, YET!!
The PT&G follower is shorter than the Savage opening. Working on fitting and sliding it forward to get the "tip up" into the chamber. Might check out the Greg Tannel thing. The "20 TCM" is real short. Most other short rounds are longer and that extra length helps the tip up on the follower.

Just checked Greg Tannel. Same follower from PT&G. :(
