Sinclair custom benchrest loading press

Is anyone using this slick looking little device? Need some input before I purchase - ram to body fit? die alignment? linkage tightness? overall quality etc.?

I will be loading 223AI, 6mm Dasher and possibly 6.5 x 47.

Thanks

Hi Tooter...I won one of em ...last yr...I was the luky guy that won the Michelle Sutton 'Pink' gun ....featured here as gun of the week #87... http://www.6mmbr.com/gunweek087.html
check it out....the Sinclair press was part of the prize package....the fit and function of the press is magnificent...seeing as how I am a retired and broken down ex-piper,pipefitter/plumber--LU.565)...I sold the press at the super shoot and got enuff money to buy four RCBS partner presses...but ...it was a beauty of a piece of aparatus....you wont be dissapointed with it....it is capable of loading all the cals. that you mentioned....just not anything longer than a 243/308...and they are cramped...it is designed for PPC,etc...It is guite a story about me winning the rifle...I was out of bullets at noon that day, during the Nationals...so I loaded my last bullet and went to hunt up Bart and get some from him ...as I left the loading barn I noticed that there was a crowd gathered and realized that the 'big' drawing was taking place....and said to myself ...'well,,,Bart wont be up at his camper..he must be here in the crowd..so I will wait untill it is over...then ...they said 'the winner is ME!!!%^&,,$#@&!!...what!!!...so ..I stumbled over to the platform and hapily accepted the prize,,and guess what ...there were 1000 BIB bullets in the prize package!!!! Viola...so I took em bak to my table and loaded some for the first target in the afternoon..hahaha...what a day ...what a prize....hope u guys can identify with my good fortune....and what a honor it was to have known Michelle and Jack for so many years....she was a friend to all shooters and her fellow man....Roger

Roger, what an incredible story! You are one lucky guy to say the least --------

I really appreciate your feedback on the press. I'm just getting back into shooting after a 12 year absence to chase a career priority. All my prior shooting was done with factory gear so I'm coming up the curve on precision shooting very rapidly. With that said, I'm gathering all the needed toys now, so that when I retire next spring I won't be facing a huge entry expense.

I'm also in the process of having Mike Bryant build me a switch barrel 3L-BAT-RBLP, Tracker II, Jewell, Krieger barrels, PTG reamers, Nightforce etc. All I need now is to locate a club here in New Hampshire with a 600 yd.,preferably a 1000 as well) range.

Thanks again ------ Norm

Harrels brothers make a similar type press
Harrels gear is top rate
there was also a press called IIRc the hood press

I have seen one of the Sinclair presses mentioned, and it looked first rate. That said, I have seen RCBS Partner Presses and they give excellent results and are much less expensive. I would certainly enjoy winning one of the Sinclair presses but would only buy the RCBS and save the money for other toys.

OK not meaning to brag here, but I own all three; the Harrells Single, Harrells Turrent, Sinclair Single, and a Hood Two Station Magnum. Never used the Hood yet but certain it's top notch as with all of Charlie Hoods equipment, except for his Cleaning Craddle where the Rod Keeper consistently flies off hitting my knuckles or worst dumping the Rods! That I have a fix for soon. All of these presses are top quality, tight and straight. One other, don't forget to check out the Tom Dundred press. The Sinclair is sweet but for me lacks distance between the ram and die holder. It will do Hornets to PPC's cases without problem, but the seating 308's it a bit short compared to the Harrells PPC size. As far as appearance, the Sinclair is tops and I do like that. The mechanical gain of the Harrells seems to be slightly better, my opinion only so I am not saying the Sinclair isn't. Look at cost, no contest there, the Harrells beats the others hands down. You simply can't go wrong with any of these. If I were to buy just one it would be the Harrells Turrent which seat near zero runout just like the custom singles. Hope I have helped you decide. Call or email if you want to discuss in more detail.

,Funny thing, but I find myself switching between presses depending on mood, which also determines caliber and rifle. I think my housewolf factors into that formula.)

Gods best,

Thanks Tom.

I have a new Harrels single and find the ram cylinder to press bore hole much too loose for me. I was actually thinking of having Warner Tool here in NH, true up the ram and re-machine the press body along with installing a precision press-fit bushed sleeve. Otherwise the Harrels press is a dandy.

I was wondering if the Sinclair press is tight and true, like RCBS or Redding)as the cost to re-machine likely is close to the cost of a new Sinclair.

I don't know what the above posting about loose ram is about with
a Harrell press?????? this is the tightest fit I have ever seen in a press. If he has a problem send it back!!!! The Harrell boys are
a little grumpy but do top notch work so having another guy butcher things up just makes no sense.......
