I've got to write this, because it's true. I've got a Remington 721 with a Simmons 6-20x40 scope on it. The barrel is a Remmy take-off in .308, and I put a Jewell trigger on it. Awhile back, I went to qualify at 1,000 yards at Bayou Rifles, and my target rifle's high-dollar scope didn't have enough vertical, so I grabbed my 22" barrelled Remington, circa 1954, original drop-comb stock. Simmons scope had plenty of elevation, and I qualified without a problem, shooting Berger 185's. Last shot was an "X" on the F-class target. Fast forward to today, and I got a new Simmons 6.5-20x50, recently on sale for $90 after a $20 rebate. Put it on my Winchester SuperGrade .30-'06 with a Lilja barrel. One boresight shot at 25 yards was in line and 1.25" low. Shot 3 at 100, which were touching. Then I moved the knobs 2 clicks up and 6 clicks right (the 3 shots were 1/2" low and 1.5" left), and shot 5 shots at a .75" highpower paster. All 5 shots hit the paster, and the group was about 0.8". It might have been better, but the 1" reticle covered the aiming point. I'm ready to hunt.
