Sightron vs Vortex

Looking for a scope in 6x24 FFP, in my price range there are two, Sightron SIII 6x24 and Vortex PST 6x24 FFP. I will be using the scope for 1000+ yard shooting.
What are the pro's and con's of these two and what would you recommend?

For my eyes the SIII has much better optical quality and sharper around the circumference. I've used the 6-24 ffp since March in a number of long range shoots with frequent dialing and it has functioned perfectly. Never needed to re-zero either. Also it is superior to the Bushy Tac Elite that it replaced. Great scope for the money.

X3 on the sightrons 111.. I have 4 of them..good glass and track like they are on rails..can not say that for the vortex..I also run a couple NF..coues52

My Vortex is fine for the application it is installed on, but the optical quality of my SIIIs (6x24 and 8x32) is superior, IMO, and I would choose the Sightron for match shooting.

The Sightron glass is much better than Vortex. I had a Viper PST FFP in the shop a month ago. It was horrible glass. If they're all that bad I don't know how they stay in business.

Just got back from a prairie dog shoot in Montana. 4 guys with 15 rifles various scopes
(No Sightrons) Everybody agreed my Burris veracity was the best glass on the prairie.
Something for you to check for your needs.

The one I looked through was maybe Leupold VX1 quality. For a scope that's a grand it was horrible. 2 others looked through it also and they both thought is was crap too. Maybe it was one that slipped past QC. For that kind of money I hope so.

I have a Sightron SIII in 8x32x56mm and a Vortex Viper HST 4-16. Both MOA, both second focal plane. The sightron is clearer and the reticle is great. The Vortex reticle at long ranges with small targets gets overbearing. For instance at 300 yards a golf ball is nearly obliterated by the Vortx, the Sightron works great.

My Sightron SIII 10X50 has better glass, but I do not feel handicaped at 600 yds for my Midrange shooting with my Vortex Viper 6.5X20. I doubt the Viper could go much further before it became a handicap, however.

I just installed my second Sightron, a SIII 8x32 and I like the clarity and reticle a lot. This is my second sightron scope and like clockwork the North Korean rejected lens caps exploded after a few rounds. Either the pins fly out or the springs made out of rat hair bust. Whats that about?

What is a good replacement cap? Or is there a set of caps linked by a elastic band that will work on this scope?

I've owned both of the scopes you mention, there's not much difference in my opinion.

I have owned a lot of fixed 6x, the swfa in either MOA or mill does as good of job as any of them under 1000.00, IMO. You can buy those for 300.00, something I figured out late.

I love every Sightron scope I have ever owned. I have sold or given away all my others and am going straight Sightron on all my rifles.
