Sightron SIII Turret Setting!?

I bought a Sightron SIII 10-50x60 LRIRSIL. With other brand scopes, I counted my zero from the bottom of the turrets. With the SIII, it seems that I need to count my zero from the middle of the turret adjustment! Otherwise counting form the bottom can be different depending on the setting of the other turret. e.g. my elevation zero count can be different depending on the position of the windage setting! Has anyone else experienced this?

I have my two Sightron III 10-50x60 scopes mounted on my two long distance bench rest rifles. They are both set up for 600 yds and that is what I normally use them for. I have them both mounted on 20 MOA bases and once they are sighted in at 600 yds with calm winds and no mirage with what I consider the load I will normally use then I reset both turrets to zero and I consider the scope sighted in. In my log book if I have to go above zero I put a plus in front of the new recorded settings and if I have to go below zero I put a minus in front of the recorded settings. You may have a plus in front of the elevation settings and a minus front of the windage settings etc. Just find a system that works for you and stick with it and take good notes on your settings.

I use this rifle for NRA competition from 800 to 1000yd and for load development at 100, 500 and 600yds so the turrets will get turned often. Also during competition the windage knob will get turned often during a string as the wind changes and it may change by 10mins or more so being able to read the setting quickly without mental arithmetic can make the job easier.

The other day,I had trouble getting my windage to move the POI,no matter how many clicks I moved it.Thinking I had a problem with the scope,I called a company tech.I was sorting through different height rings, and had the elevation turned all the way down.Seems when one or the other turret is maxed out in either direction, the other turret will turn, but the reticle will not.Backing off the maxed out turret solved the problem. All scopes work on the same principle(According to the tech). This scope had an etched reticle.

In all my other scopes, except for the sightrons, I record my zeros by counting the number of clicks from the bottom up. It seems that for the Sightrons, I need to count from the '0' mark on the scope turret body.
