Sightron SIII 6-24 or 8-32 in mil dot

has anyone used one of the 2 scopes to shoot f-class at 600 or 1000 yards....interested in clarity and ease of seeing 10 and x rings at these 2 distances. Is 24 power enough or do I need the 32 power and if I get the 32 power, in the summer is the mirage to much to use on power above about 18???

The mil-dot reticle is rather thick. Even if you can see clearly (I can with my SIIB 6-24 Mil-dot) the X-ring is all but completely obscured by the reticle. If F-class is the primary purpose, I'd suggest something more like a fine crosshair or a dot no bigger than 1/4 MOA (which is still too big).

I really like Sightron's glass with one exception. The depth of field is very shallow on the focus. It seems to be more critical than paralax. The Leupold is the opposite (dang near everything is) in that I have a focused picture even when I don't necessarily have zero paralax.

I've shot 600 yard F-class with mine and it works, but is far from as good as I get with a Leupold TMR reticle in a 20 power scope. The TMR has much finer lines and makes more of the X-ring visible. I can call my shots with the Leupold by clock position and 1/8 MOA on the target (e.g. I broke the shot at 3 o'clock - half way between the X and the line)

Not so much with the Sightron Mil-dot

Hope this helps...
