Sightron Scopes?

I have been looking at the Sightron 10-50 and wanted to here from you out there that have actually had experience with them. What were you likes dislikes? Have any problems with them? Just looking to hear some reviews, thanks guys.

I've been looking at Sightron as a alternative to Leupolds, and i haven't seen anybody say a bad word about them! Same goes for Vortex .

I have 5 sightrons, 29 Leupolds, 4 Night forces. and two Swarorski scopes. I'll never buy another Lepould. For target shooting and hunting Sightron, Nightforce and Swaroski are as good as it gets. Khales, Leica, Schmit and Bender, and March may be other good alternatives. I have gotten both the best prices and best service from Alex Roy at EuroOptic. Your local dealer can get Sightrons from Greens Supply, Jerry's Sports Center, or RSR. I believe Sightrons can be had retail from Jim Briggs who advertises on this sight.

Several of my friends use the Sightrons without complaint for F Class. I think the Nightforce is as good as it gets for F Class. Remember, your scope can or will follow you from rifle to rifle. Buy once and be happy. Go to a match and folks will be very helpful by letting you look through their glass.

I have a NF and a March for F Class. I think the March is better suited to benchrest shooting with an eye relief that is more critical than the NF.

Anyone have any problems with them in FTR or any other competition where you are constantly cranking on the turrets?

A bunch of fellows that I shoot with have them. They will have to "crank" on them not less than 2-4 times during competition. Every one of the owners is happy with them. :D I have the Sightron 36x fixed on 3 rifles and have found them to be very repeatable as well. Some of those 36x's are over 6 years old and never had an issue with them. :D

No question that the NF scopes are also a good choice. ;)

Good luck on what ever brand you decide. :) WD

You won't be disappointed with the Sightron 10x50. I have a 10x50 along with a few other Sightron scopes and in my opinion they are one of the best values out there. You will hear people talk about mushy clicks when they first came out but Sightron quickly corrected that issue and that is not the case with any of mine. Clicks are very positive and they track very well. Glass looks as good or better than just about any scope I have looked through including scopes priced nearly twice as much. If I had to pick a negative it would be the parallax adjustment. It functions great but it is just very sensitive and when I first got the scope I found myself going too far with the adjustment and having to start over. But once I got used to the sensitivity it was a non issue. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one for my next build.

I've switched over to all 10-50x60 Sightrons from 20-50x50mm Premier boosted Leupolds for clearer glass and 1/8moa adjustments, PLUS you can get a Sightron REPAIRED, a modified Leupold not so.

I have had three. They are rock solid for adjustment. The glass quality is not the best. If there is a lot of mirage at 1,000 it is a best guess where the X is. My NF is much clearer than the sightrons I had.

If I was only shooting in the winter I would probably use sightron. They do track that well.

I have a Sightron 36X and the clicks are audable and positive, glass is very good. Parallax adjustment is a bit tricky. I would buy another.

I am soon to get a 36X Sightron, plus another one
I already have three S-III's (Two 6-24's MOA Reticle, and 8-32 Dot reticle).
Yep, you could say I like them! ;D

I'm thinking of buying a Sightron III also in 8X32. I've always used the fine cross hairs with a 1/8 dot, but have been wondering if that's the way to go. What would be the best reticle for this power scope. Plan on mounting it on a 6.5X47 L. Where I live 500 yds. is about the limit without some extended driveing and maybe overnight stay. What is the advantage of the Mildot? Thanks for any input.

Depends on the type(s) of shooting one does of whether a MOA or MIL reticle would be beneficial.
A good MOA or MIL reticle is useful if you use it:
To reticle range
As a means to make shot corrections, since you can use your reticle like a ruler to know how much correction you need to make if you or your spotter can see your impact
For field shooting as an aiming point. One can also dial (very little) off of that aiming point and be very precise.

Personally I prefer a MOA reticle over the MIL, but that is preference.

I have both Mil dot and Mil hashmark reticles. I also use a fine crosshair for matches.

The Mill hashmark reticle (not offered by Sightron) is good for most uses. The subtensions of the lines are small enough to make very fine shot calls. On the other hand a mil-dot reticle (this one is actually in a Sightron SIIB 6-24) is a bit thicker. It is not very good for target work as the intersection obscures a pretty large portion of the target center (x ring). That is not to say that I've not shot good scores with it, just that I prefer something thinner. On the other hand, in dim conditions while hunting, I much prefer it to the mil-hashmark design.

I only use the mildot reticle for hunting. I've never been able to use it for holding off in a bullseye competition (too far between marks ~ 3 moa between the edge of the dot and the center of the crosshair), but I've used it to hold over or correct my fire while varmint hunting.

Hope this helps,
Keith

Hi
Ive got the 10x50 and love it its as good as some scopes costing three times as much and when the mirage is really bad 62mm camera filters will help ease the problem
hope this helps :)
