Sightron Big Sky SIIB36x42mm Scope

Anyone own one of these? What are your impressions? If you have the fine cross hair model, are the hairs too fine? Is this scope worth the extra money over the non Big Sky Sightron or Weaver 36x scopes?

I may end up buying a Weaver T36 if I can't find out anything about the Big Sky model.

I'd spend the extra for the Sightron over the Weaver. I've seen both at IBS shoots at Mainville P.A. The cross hairs on both are very fine, I prefer a 1/8th min Target dot

I've had a few Sightrons including a SIII 8-32LR and some pre-BigSky SII's a 6-24 and a 4.5-14. The BigSky 6.5-20 Side Focus I had had great glass and if you buy a BigSky before 12/31/09 you get 50.00 mail in rebate, I got mine back in less than a week.

pahog - I want to make sure I understand your advice. You are saying the extra money for the Big Sky model is worth it over the Weaver?

Do you prefer the dot over the fine cross hairs because both the Weaver and Sightron fine cross hairs are too fine, or just because you like dots better?

I won't buy the less expensive Sightron (which is slightly more expensive than the Weaver) because it only comes with the dot reticle.

I own both the SII 36X and the Big Sky 36X scopes, both with dots. Both are great scopes.

The optics in the Big Sky do perform better in overcast conditions. The Big Sky series also has a different a.o. setup. The 'standard' SII has a lock ring on the a.o. and the Big Sky does not. From a performance standpoint, both scopes are great.

The 'standard' SII is fully the equal of the Weaver T36 and somewhat better optically..at least in my experience.

Good shootin'. -Al
