Sighting in my prairie dog rifles......

One last range trip to sight in this years chosen loads....After zeroing I shot a group with each of the five rifles that will accompany my son and I to North Dakota next week.

I'm very happy with how the rifles are performing.....especially off a bipod from the tailgate of my truck.

Yep not bad at all given the shooting platform. Nice shootin'. What's the specs on that 223AI? BBL length and twist.

Looks to be a lot of p-dogs are going to be dinner for predators when you are done shooting for the day by those groups.

Thanks guys....It's been almost 6 years since I've shot prairie dogs.....To say that I'm overly prepared would be an understatement.

To tell you the truth even if the shooting wasn't very good just being out in the band lands of North Dakota is a special treat. Not only will the summer temps be bearable unlike Tennessee's there'll also be a shortage of people! That in and of itself is reason enough to want to go west.

26" 9 Twist Criterion barrel.....It's my most accurate rifle on a consistent basis. The AI would have shot better. But not only was I shooting with a bipod, off the tailgate of my truck, it was also starting to storm.....these groups were shot in haste......that's another reason I'm happy with the outcome of such an average looking target.

I think those criterion barrels are best value on the market. I have a prefit 6BR 8t on a Savage LRPV action and it is the most accurate rifle I’ve ever owned. Really incredible for the relatively low cost.

The first half day of shooting was great. The 223AI and 204 Ruger proved themselves. The second litter of pups are just coming out of the burrows which makes for uneducated targets galore. I'm worn out from lots of driving.....more details and shooting to come......

Pretty windy today.....the 6XC was king of the hill....made a 416 yard shot with a 20 mile an hour cross wind......couldn't get the smaller stuff even close at that distance with the wind

Yep, 6mms are the ticket in the wind. I use my 6BR one most of the stuff beyond 400-500 yds. The 87vmaxs are awesome. Used to shoot 105 amaxs, sucks that they are discontinued
