Its pretty nice to have standard ammo on the battlefield for machine guns especially.

Yeah, and the M240 is one hell of a fine machine gun. I once fired a continuous burst of 196 rounds without a jam. The guys in the tower thought it was a runaway machine gun.

Not intended to replace the M2. It can replace some use of the M2 but not all applications of the M2. It is to replace the m240. While the 240 is a great weapon it lacks range and power that this offers.

Those of us who have hunted with a 308 and with the 338 know there is no real comparison. The 338 is such a better option in every way except weight.
