Sierra Tipped Match King Bullets

Anybody know of a place to get the new Sierra Tipped MK bullets? I just picked up my new 308 build and I'd like to start right off with the tipped Sierra's rather than working up a load with other bullets and then more than likely switching to the Tipped MK's.

If you find them be sure to let us know as I have also been looking for them. Everywhere I checked was out of stock/back ordered. Even Sierra's own site for ordering from them showed out of stock/back ordered.

I don't think any of the 168 TMKs have made it to store shelves yet. If you want to get some, I would sign up for email alerts at Widener's, Natchez, and Graf's.

I just got off the telephone with a Sierra bullet technician and he said they are now being shipped to distributors in the sequence that they had placed their order.

They were in stock at Wideners a week or two ago but out of stock now. At $40+ per 100 no thanks. I will stick with the 178 Amax at $28.75 per 100.

Just heard if this last night when my buddy emailed me. What's the benefit? I've been a fan of 77 SMK molys. Testing out some Nosler 77 CC's now. What is the intended benefit of these green tipped beauties. The fact that they are unavailable makes me want to try some. Personality flaw, clearly.

They off better BC vs the SMK. I still don't see the justification to pay the extremely high asking price over Hornady Amax bullets.

For .223, I am completely satisfied with 77smk and 77BTHP. I can hit 12" steel at 800yds with my AR using 77smk or 75BTHP with 23.8g 8208XBR. Picked up 1000 Nosler 77CC's to test and see if they perform the same as the 77smk's. If they do I will be switching to the 77cc's permanently as they are much cheaper than the 77smk's.

Same boat here. Using 77 SMK molys but bought Nosler cc to try out. Much more affordable. Curious if these green tips are worth the dough. Seem hard to find, that's for sure.

You may have to do a side by side comparison between what you are using and the Sierra Tipped Match Kings and then you will know if they are worth the higher price.

I know. Just had them in the cart and decided against. I'm getting great results with 77 SMK molys and testing Nosler 77 cc as an economical alternative. The green tips are same price as molys. Took a pass on it. Good looking numbers though and if I start shooting past 400 yards often, I may revisit this idea. Will be more info by then too. Not many reviews or test out there yet.

I've read that the tipped 77 have the same BC as the 80SMK. That is a good capability for a magazine fed bullet for a rattle battle match.

The first place to check for any Sierras is Ok Weber. He has them in stock. Otto is a competition shooter and should patronized whenever possible. www.okweber.com

Dan,
Give them a call. They are in Oregon. Great folks to deal with. What you must have run into is a typo in their ordering program. They ship flat rate, so shipping is minimal.
