Sierra Blitzking experience?

Just wondering what your overall experience is with the BK's? Specifically, how far off the lands they like to be seated and favorite velocity. I'll be using 50gr BK's in my 22-250 using IMR 4320. Feel free to post up some pics of your group size or chuck kills! Thanks

It has been awhile since I had a .22-250 (about 5 years).. But I used to use 36+grs (can't remember exactly) of Varget with the 55gr BlitzKings. I do not have any pics but they were DEVASTATING on prairie dogs. A good "belly shot" looked like they swallowed an M80! My barrel had OVER 4000 rounds thru it. It was NOT shooting like it used to and the throat was so eroded the bullets were barely staying in the case. They were seated right at 4-5K OFF the lands. Just before I turned it into a .223 I shot a 200 yard "F-Class Fun-Shoot" with it. We used "modified 300 yard targets".. I still shot a 600-40+ "x's".. Oh and it was an OLD Savage with the magnum length bolt they had on those things back then. The BlitzKings are amazingly accurate and they are a BOMB on varmints!

They are more fragile than V-Maxs - thinner jackets, and bigger hollow space behind the poly tip.

They are accurate...

They are my preferred 22 centerfire varmint bullet.

In my experience, in .224, they are a very accurate bullet. I consider them to be the perfect varmint bullet, accurate and very explosive. Up to groundhogs shouldn't be a problem, but, on bobcats and fox's they will destroy a hide and I have had a couple of splash's on coyotes trying to shoot though the shoulders. Know their limitations and they are a great bullet.

My Rem 700 varmint bbl likes the 53 gr. Sierra MK over 40.4 grs of the new imr 4166, with CCi 400 primers. Mine is a 14 tw facory bbl,and I cannot touch the lands with these bullets. I just load them long enuf to fit the magazine.

Howdy!

In the .22-250s I had, and my .22-35Rem wildcat ( all 1-14 ), .002" off the lands worked best for me( my loads... mu guns ). This was w/ .224" cal 55BKs.

I have had better results overall, shooting Hornady .224" cal 55SX.
I'm trying to $$$ all I can still find. With regards,

Only thing I don't like is the price. As for accuracy and explosiveness? They are awesome. So good that I force myself to pay the extra money for them over the V-Max's

Just an update:

I worked up a pretty sweet load in my 22-250 over the holiday weekend. I used a starting load of 36.5gr of IMR4320, and worked in .5gr increments up to 38.5gr where I started to get heavy bolt lift. I found a node between 37gr and 37.5 gr, then I loaded up a few at 37.3gr and shot a very nice cloverleaf. I seated the blitzkings till they just touched the lands. i was going to stop there, but I thought I might try to turn that cloverleaf into one ragged hole. Working in .01" increments, I moved back until I hit 3.095" OAL, using the hornady tool. Bingo! A nice, one hole, group appeared. Thanks for the advice guys.

my 22-250 40x hart is absolutely astounding with 55 BK, pd's just explode even at 500+ yds

targets attached, I use h414, r/p brass and 9 1/2s seated to jump .020 at 3725fps. 26" bbl

I am shooting the 55g out of my fast twist 22-250 and they are awesome. You push them to hard in the fast twist they dont stay together. But at 3300 fps they are going to liquify what ever they hit. I can't wait for my 6x47 barrel as I will get some for it too.

They are accurate & explosive pretty much like any vmax bullet. I run them in my 20/22/6mmrigs for coyote/p-dogs when I use them, but still prefer the Vmax line.

Since a lot of comparisons on the V-Max, I find the V-Max (Z-Max packaging in 500's) shoot as accurately and at a cost that gives me a free custom replacement barrel and chambering every 6,000 rounds (once a year) on my varmint rigs as opposed to using the Sierras at almost twice the price. Both darn good bullets.
