Sierra 95 grains Matchking on 243win - Remington 700 varmint

Somebody have testing the sierra 95 gr bullet on the remington 700 barrel - 243win, is it good for the 9-1/8 twist ?

remvls, I shoot the 95gr smk in a 6mm rem vls and they shoot very well, I,m assuming I have the same twist as you have.

thank you.
Normaly my VLS is in 9-1/8 twist.

Maybe, remington make the same model with different twist ?

Do you have a handload for the 95 grs SMK on 243win ?

i find a program that tell me : 95 SMK wasn't stabilize on 9-1/8 twist ! Maybe this programm is not good...,i just place an order for 400 bullets !)

remvls, I don't have a .243 I have a 6mm rem. in the vls. I used the 95gr smk in a match last sunday and shot a 2.5 in five shot group a 500yds using varget powder. I think the 95gr smk will work in your .243 with no problems.

I was told by a Sierra technican, the 95 SMK was designed for ".243 Winchesters with factory barrels", so I ordered some for a Model 660 in 6mm Remington.

Anyone tried the Berger match 105's...they say 1-9"..is this 9 1/8 close enough to stabilize? getting a 243 VL__
Thanks

This thread is interesting. I called Sierra about this bullet in my 6BR and they said it wouldn't stabilize in my 1;9 kREIGER...............just thought I'd share/ Chaz

Chazgreen,

I would post on the boards here and see if someone can send you a few 95 SMK's to try...The 105 A=Max says 1-9" not sure how the bearing length compares between the two though...

I would hope they would stabilize for you.

I have a Rem 700 243 in a youth model with a 9.25 twist and 20" barrel and I have no problems stabilizing Hornady 105 A-max at 500 yards. I have not tested beyond 500 as it is a hunting load and that is about it as far as distance for a effective kill.

When the weather warms up here I will do some testing at 1000 to see how they perform.

I have yet to shoot the 95's in it but I am pretty sure they will be just fine.
