Sierra 90 gr. .224 bullets disintergrating!

Yes sir....when I shoot 'em through my 22/250 with 1-7 ROT using 36.0 grs. H4350 and they hit this AR400 plate from 800 yards....it totally destroys the structural integrity of the jacket!!

not sure on your post, is it a question of why they blow up,.
over here we shoot a lot of steel gongs and my 22 dasher will do the same.
i believe the fast twist is casing the easy fragmenting, the 80grainers shoot better for me but have very little effects on steel targets, but they do leave quite a flash.

Great shooting...and that is the point of this tongue in cheek-weld post, correct?

:) ;D I've read on here that someone had posted that THEY had not been having any luck with the Sierra 90 gr. .224 bullets because if a fast enough ROT was used to stabilize same....the bullets never made it to the target; were being destroyed by the fast twist. Frankly...in my experience that's HS because I've shot a few hundred of them now and none have been destroyed in flight by this 1-7" ROT I have on my 22/250! These bullets, for me, only lose their structural integrity when they smack this steel AR400 plate! ;D ;D

I never tried sierra's but found some bergers over 3100 fps 1 out of 20 from mine might not find the paper ? And the others would be in a structured. Group.

Rick,

Like you, not just here, but at other places, I've read how the 90 SMKs vaporize in flight, you should not have any problem sourcing them.

I've gone through over 500 rds of the 90 grainers and NOT ONE has come apart in flight!!

I'm still working on my load but so far in testing they have all put little round holes in the targets.

I've had good luck with the Sierra's I've shot but a guy I shoot with had some come apart. He sent them back to Sierra & they came apart in there test tunnel. They sent him new bullets. So there are some bad lots out there.
