Sierra 6.5 140 SBT GameKing

I think 8 twist is the twist that most guys use, however I would try it being that 9 twist is so close. Most .308's are 1 ni 12 and they stabilize 190 grain bthp's. The worst that could happen would be inaccuracy. Check berger bullets web site and they have a chart regarding twist rate.Alot of times a lesser twist will stabilize just fine.

I had a Shilen 8 groove in 9". It would stabilize the 140 Matchking but not the Hornady 140 A-Max or the Lapua Scenar 139.

With a length of 1.264" (32.03mm) the JBM Stability calculator indicates that a 1:10 twist rate would still be in the 'green' for a variety of atmospheric conditions.

Had the chance to try the 140 Sierra SBT's in the 9" twist. They shot very well. Thanks for the posts on the subject.

The load was 40gr H4350/CCI450 primer/24" barrel/6.5x47 Lapua. Hoping someone might know the velocity as I do not have a chronograph.

I've got a few of these to load up for my 22" 9 twist R700 Mountain LSS in .260; while they have been effective I figure it wouldn't hurt to have a little more "oomph" over the 120 Nosler BT.

In my gun 26" Douglas in 8 twist I get 2800 with 40.0 of H4350 and Sierra 140's 2850 with 41.0 grains. HTH

Thanks ARshuter. This rifle is just a hunter on a 700 with a Pac-Nor #4 in an HTG and a Jewel trigger but I'm still tickled at how well it shot this combination.

Mine will hammer this combo. Sunday I shot a 197 with 12X at a midrange match, which was the first match I shot the gun in. That was with 40.0 grains. I shot those (40.0 grainers) just to get rid of the ones I had, it shoots 41.0 grains better at distance.
