Sierra 39gr BK seconds

I bought 3 lbs of the Sierra 39gr BK's last year from someone here in the forums (I wish I had bought at least twice that amount now) and I finally got around to see what these were really like today. If I remember correctly I gave about $75 shipped for the 3 lbs which ended up being 527 bullets in the bag I got.

Out of those 527, I sorted out 395 which other than some being a little tarnished in spots or very minor marks in the jacket or tip, looked relatively good so at a cost of under 20 cents per bullet, I'm pretty darned pleased. These are all going to be loaded up and used in my 20 Practicals for varminting/prairie dogging.

Out of the other roughly 130 bullets that had very obvious defects, I think I can still use about 75 of them for some local varminting opportunities in my short barreled 20 Practical that I use as my truck gun. I think I'll just toss out the ones that have obvious bad jackets and really bad/crushed/deformed tips.

I sure hope to get the opportunity to get more of these in the future! They are a serious bargain and great for slinging at prairie dogs hopefully. Here's some pics of the bullets after I went through them.

FYI, after having shot thousands of the seconds, don’t toss the bad tips or wrinkled ones. Weigh them. If they make weight they will fly very well, I just wouldn’t use them for money shots.
I used to save them for fire forming. Playing around and shot the ugly ones for group one day, I was shocked to say the least.
I save the culls for prairie dog and varmint loads.

I did some random sampling of these and the weight, diameter, and base to ogive measurements are all great so I expect them to do well for me as well. A big plus is sending bullets that cost under 20 cents each at the pasture pups.

AS said above, don't throw any away. The less than pretty looking ones will fireform a case just as good as any. They will break in a barrel just as good. They will help with getting on paper when mounting a scope. They will make great fouling rounds.

Man I have not been able to find any to try in my cz 204. Been trying to come up with a load for a 40gvmax
I take that back I did find some once but I was. It going to pay double the price they wanted
