Sierra 107 6mm seating depth

And, has anything changed in the 10+ years since this thread was opened?
;)
But seriously, I shot the 107SMK in early forays into long range BR but all I remember about where seating depth was best is that the bullet's base to ogive was all over the place and trying to sort them was an act of frustration. I'm pretty sure I ran them off the lands a little then and pushed them really hard with a healthy does of 8208XBR. My first sub-1" groups and my highest score for four targets ever (198) came with that load but, alas, I was soon after taken in by that voice in my head that said "Dasher". :D

Try the “New” 107’s, the factory pointed ones.
I came back to them this past year when I got a “deal” on 500 and was greatly surprised at how good the current iteration is…
Jumped 10 on top of 30.1gr Varget, 450’s in a 6BR, 2850fps.
I too started out with them and had moved over to 103’s {not Bart’s but supposedly from the same die manufacturer} but then C-19 hit and jackets were scarce and when finally a new lot of 1,000 arrived they just did not perform like the previous batch… Hence the move back to the 107’s and pleasantly surprised at how good they are and of course a bit better when the wind blows across the the F Open mounds…

In my 6 XC True "Accuracy", with the 107 gr. SMK's came after, doing some Research on HERE ( Old Posts ) and found that, a "Light JAM" ( of, .015 ish ) works Beautifully, with the .104 Freebore, of my Criterion 1-7.5 Twist barrel.
"One Hole" group's from the Low . 2's to .3's ( When, I'm,.. "On" ) AND the Winds aren't Blowing, too Hard !
Reduced my Powder Charge by 1/2 a grain and,.. Blammo,.. the Best Bullet that, I've ever Shot, so far !
I'm NOT a BR competitor,. Just LR Steel and Varmints, w/ THIS Rifle ( It s a 10.5 Pounder and a Sub $3000,.. "Cheapie" )

I recently started working my 6GT with the 110 SMK and agree that the newer Sierras are nice.

IF you want to Know whether, Your Rifle / Load, IS, really "Accurate", Test them at, 200 or, 300 Yds for, TEN Shots !
Then, you are Testing,.. the Shooter ( concentration, form & Ability ), the Rifle and,.. the Load.
Kieth Glasscock, "Winning in the Wind" on youTube,. does,.. 33 shot tests @ 600 !
With the 107's early On, I found that, .015, .025 and .035 "OFF Jam" shot, "So-So" ( high 3's, .4's to, 1/2 MOA )

I have been jumping 20thou in an old Kreiger 1/8 with a 6BRAI. They worked well over H4895.
New barrel now so let games begin. I will say touch was a good spot too for me.

I am NOT a sr benchrest shooter. Sling with scope or irons. Excepting custom, hand made bullets, the Sierra 107’s, once sorted have provided the most consistent results. Usually, sorted by bearing surface, the 107’s produce small n rounds groups at 600 yds in my BRX. Excellent results at 1 K as well when conditions are more wind friendly. The BC is not as good as a Berger 105 H, but I will take the smaller groups ( accuracy) and deal with the windage difference.
