Side Shot scope cam phone or gopro version? Anyone using one of these?

Hi All,
looking at investing in one of these. Just wondering if anyone is using either version? And what they are using it on? Maker says can be used on air rifles through to large center fire rifles. Most of the video I have seen posted on youboob, is airgun based, but there are a few center fire videos.

I'm thinking of using on .22 lr and 6.5 x 47 Lapua, and using to capture some small game hunting, and to see if I can improve my shooting.

Any information welcome, cheers

Contact these guys and find out if they can get you a setup to the US, the setup is build and sold in South Africa so im not sure how the exports work. Allot of my friends use them on everything from 223 to 338ai and the videos are very impresive.

I see there is an option to buy in us $ so should be able to get it to you

I had one and returned it. I'm now experimenting with the Tactacam FTS, they are both a little over $500.

Thanks Capt. Oblivious and mikehotel for the suggestions.

I'm still leaning to the sideshot gopro version. Have a gopro, I'm willing to modify. And like the idea of being able to set up a couple of scopes with clamps, and switch from one to the other, depending on what rifle I'm shooting. No allen keys, once the clamps are fitted.

cheers

I use a side scope with an iPhone XR. For the cost it’s great and really easy to get up and running and the owner is amazing to work with. I switched scopes and changed tube diameters. He actually swapped out the ring for me no charge! It works as advertised although you will need to use an aftermarket video app to get the most out of it. The factory video app on iPhone wants to autofocus all the time which can lead to out of focus shots on occasion if you’re not watching it. Here’s an example of me at the range with mine.

I think the orange circle on the right, was dead after the first shot!
Nice work, good shooting. Looks like its working well (side shot). I'm going for the gopro version. If they did a 36 mm clamp, it would be perfect.
What caliber are you shooting in the video please?
Thanks for the info.

Thank you. I’m shooting a .284 out of a custom Defiance Deviant. Yeah the biggest they make is 34mm but I reamed out a set of 34mm so they fit on my 35mm but I’m not sure there’s enough room to get to 36mm.

It is foreseeable that the next biggest improvement in rifle scopes will be a built in camera with micro USB port to connect to your phone using an extension cable.

If the scope manufactures begin offering this as an add on, I think it'll open up a whole new market. I know I would be first in line to buy several.

I did enquire about the possibility of 36 mm clamp, they said they could do a 35 mm. I'll see what I can come up with, once it arrives. I have an idea, but need the side shot, to see if it might work.
cheers

Yep, can see that happening. There are some "Thermal" scopes that already have a recording function built in. cheers
