Sid Goodling Tuner Question

Greetings, I just bought a used 30BR rifle from the Shooter's Corner in New Jersey which came with a Sid Goodling Tuner. I am not personally familiar with it and I cannot find anything online regarding any instructions for it. Would anyone be willing to provide some information on it and instructions for setup and use? Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

its a simple screw it in and out affair with a lock ring to hold it in place. I would recommend you set it with the rear of the tuner section about halfway down the threads. Then shoot it and see what a 3 shot group looks like. Turning in our out in small amounts to see how that affects the grouping.

Ok, Thanks GPalman! I tried turning it by hand and was unable to do so, so I was curious how one would make fine adjustments.

I've used Sid's tuner / brake combinations since he introduced them many (many) years ago. Everyone probably uses a different process but mine has been to turn the lock ring and tuner back towards the chamber as far as it will go. Then shoot three shot groups moving one index mark at a time till you hit a sweet spot.

Thanks Bugs! Appreciate the information! To release the lock ring I'm assuming it is a counter clockwise direction? I've tried turning mine and it doesn't budge. Not sure how long it has been sitting prior to me buying the rifle.

you need to unlock the lock ring. Sid's tuners are two piece...the actual tuner part and the lock ring. righty tighty lefty loosey looking down from above the barrel.

Ok, I was thinking that was the case but man is it tight. I assume the lock ring is the closest to the crown of the barrel. Thanks so much for your help!
