Show & Tell: Savage 11 Conversion

I converted my Savage 11 Trophy Hunter in .308 to .260 using an EABCO barrel and Boyds Tacticool stock. Boyds does not yet support the bolt release on the trigger guard so I had some machining to do. I chucked a router bit into my drill press and deepened the channel for the trigger guard. Now the trigger guard sits deep enough so that the spring-loaded tab engages the bolt release lever that extends downward from the action. I built a blind magazine using parts from the Trophy Hunter magazine and a retainer bracket that I obtained from Savage. In the future I will add a detachable box magazine. The scope is a Vortex 5-15x44.

Very nice rig. I have been wanting to see what the tacticool stock looked like; thanks for sharing.

One question, do you like your scope mounted that high?

Good point about the scope height. I replaced the extra tall rings with medium rings. (I had been using the scope on an AR before I moved it.) Scope height is now 2.2 in and that makes my ballistics much more manageable.
