Second the part of finding the best surgeon.
Absolutely. I’ve had some heroes and a few bozos. As the old joke goes:Second the part of finding the best surgeon.
They came up with the term "practicing medicine" just for them.Absolutely. I’ve had some heroes and a few bozos. As the old joke goes:
What do you call a medical student who gets all D’s?
Doctor
Befor sugary I told the Dr. that I was a shooter . Before I finished he wondered if that was a threatlol. Nice to have a little humor in these situations.I just had revers shoulder replacement. Last Monday. One night in hospital and home. It's been 13 days and doing great. Take a couple Tylenol but pain is very little. I'm 71 years old and plan to keep shooting. Mostly 22 RF and 6 BR in br matches. I gave up big guns long ago because of shoulder pain. I was a carpenter for 50+ years.nlooking forward to this summer shoots. The ball on my shoulder had a large hole in the top that would pinch the tissue every time I moved my arm. Been that way for several years. Should have done it sooner but have all winter to get going again. Tom.
I broke my collar bone twice and then broke my shoulder while tearing the labrum and rotator cuff all at the same. Rehabbed hard and still playing competitive tournament softball and shooting. Doesn’t really give me problems any more. Good luck with the shoulder brother.Has anyone had a shoulder replacement surgery and continued shooting center fire rifles. I am told that I have no cartilage in either shoulder. I get cortisone shots ever three months but they are becoming less effective as time goes by. At the rate I am going, I may have to stop shooting are at least go to rimfire before too long.
What is the recovery like and how long are you incapacitated after surgery? I am 85 years old and have put this off for a very long time. In my entire 85 years, I have never had surgery and am not looking forward to it now.
No one I know has every had this. Guess they all passed away before needing it.
Update March 19th finished therpy. New shoulder has more travel then other one. I have been shooting my br rifles since first of the year. Glad I had it done. It was much less painful then rotator cuff sugary I had 20 years ago. Recovery has been much quicker also. Get er doneI just had revers shoulder replacement. Last Monday. Thank you for this. I am going to hold out till winter sets in as I don't want to give up any chance to get to the range while it is warm enough to shoot. This past month has been really bad for me as I could feel the rough edges grating against each other. Thankfully, I was able to get cortisone shots in both shoulders yesterday.Update March 19th finished therpy. New shoulder has more travel then other one. Find a Dr that does a lot of them and specializes in shoulders. Had mine done in Jackson WY. Dr Williams. He is a great Dr. Good luck. Where do you live?Thank you for this. I have been getting these for the last several years and they really do return my range of movement and there is little pain unless I am not careful and within 24 hours, it really makes a difference. I know these won't work forever, as the duration of relief diminishes after each set of shots and you can only get them every three months. X Rays show nothing but raw bone in the joint.
Yesterday my doctor, with whom I have always had the utmost faith in, informed that he is no longer doing shoulder replacements and now only does knee and hip surgeries. He turns shoulder work over to a colleague. That bummed me out some. I don't anything about this new doctor and will now have to do more research to find someone I can trust.
Oh the trials and tribulations of old age.
