Shoulder Recoil pads for ELR?

Hi All,

Embarrassed to ask for advice on this, but my 33XC has significant recoil which I think impacts my accuracy.

I am thinking of buying/using some shoulder recoil reduction pads (worn on shooters shoulder). Are there some recommended ones out there, especially for prone shooting that we do in ELR matches. Any pros/cons based on experience?

thanks for the help

I have both models that PAST offers. They were used when shooting at the bench, not prone. Don't know how Caldwell would compare.

But I can tell you the PAST pads are wonderful. Once you have them on, you forget they are there. And they take recoil that is significant and changes it to a non-issue.

I have both the magnum and standard PAST. The standard pad works just as good as the magnum and I like the wider pad. 10/10 highly recommend.

I see on the amazon link that the pictures for the Caldwell pad also include pictures that say "PAST." Seems that PAST is now CALDWELL. Great product.

my suggestion would be to get a canvas shooting jacket.
Canvas shooting jacket

The recoil pad stays in the same location
The jacket it built to fit
it has elbow protection (grip) for elbow placement
and it keeps off some some of the weather.
down side in summer they can be hot if wearing for any length of time

PAST makes a pad that straps on to your shoulder that is far more effective than it would appear - both in standard and magnum varieties.
Those things are very effective. If I were looking for something similar, I think this would be it but I'd get a shirt modified where I could put only the pad inside a pouch sewn into a dedicated shooting shirt. Been aiming to have this done with mine but just keep putting it off and haven't yet. They do a good job though. I use to wear mine a lot for sighting in customers big caliber rifles and turkey shotguns prior to those seasons. I just quit working on them instead. Lol!
