Shotgun question

Sorry guys, this is for you shotgun guys.
I have an old Winchester 1200 pump, it was passed down to me from
my father. I'd like to put a slug barrel on it.
It only has a 24 inch smooth bore slug barrel available in that model. Can the smooth
bores shoot almost as well as the rifled ones with the right slugs?

I had an old Rem 870 with a modified barrel that would hit a gallon milk jug at 100 yards every time. That was with nothing but a bead sight on it. Put some decent sights on a smooth bore and it will do OK.......not as good as a rifled barrel......but OK for closer ranges for sure.

there is a reason they spin rifle bullets.

i believe they make a rifled choke for that gun.

12gu punkin balls revolved into many shapes and sizes and even have all copper and plastic tips.spinning the wad is more like what you are after.

like you stated, find the right slug. I had a 1300 and was going to get a rifled choke for it but that was as far as it got.

Have you tried some sabots? I helped a buddy sight in his 20 gauge with sabots. It shot like a rifle with them!

There's one on E-bay.
I have a couple of friends that have the rifled barrel on there slug gun and if you get
the right slugs to shoot, they are a hammer.
That's why I'm asking about the "smooth bore" slug barrel.
Don't want to waste money on one if it won't shoot.
