shotgun??? 3" 12 ga. auto

Lol. yea, a few george washingtons went down the barrel thats for sure. one good thing is that you can win, or at least have the opporrunity to win money. i did ok paying for shoots but never got good enough to make money. my wife and I had a cheap rv we traveled the east coast and canada in shootimg every weekend. it was a lot of fun but I only shoot one or two shoots a year nowjust to see old friends.

Once thing about a lot of shotgun shooters, they think the bling is everything. In our game, for the most part, you can up grade equipment by purchasing more expensive gear. be it barrels, stocks, glass or whatever. In shotgun sports, it mazes zero difference. you only need a gu. That fits and werhere you buy a 500 dollar auto from walmart or a 70k k80 from dupont, they shoot the same. but try and tell some people that!!!

Wasn't it Wayne Mayes that gave everyone a good spanking in skeet, with a Winchester 1400 auto? And Leo Harrison gave everyone a good spanking in trap for many years with an 1100 Remington ( but he carried a LOT of spare parts) until someone stole all his stuff from his vehicle at a motel one night.

Avg yes, actual no. During the seaso I would shoot over 1k a week practice. during the off season I would shoot winter leagues and practice with it which were a couple hundred rounds a weekend.

If you think thats a bad number, you have never shot competively at tgat level. i averaged over 10k registered targets (12, 20, 28, 410 and doubles in skeet, sporting, some fitasc and trap for a few years before we had kids.) i eas shooting so much I was buyibg shot by the ton! not only was I reloading for me but my wife as well. 4 mec 900g's were running on a daily basis
Like I said, impressive. My 390's have run well but they'll never see that many shells, at least not with me pulling the trigger;)

Another vote for Beretta here. Eons ago you could get bare bones synthetic 390s at WalMart for ~$450. I grabbed one and tossed a limbsaver pad on it and proceeded to put thousands upon thousands of rounds through it.

I believe I replaced a recoil spring a few years ago just as a matter of best practice, but the thing has been 100% reliable; I honestly can't recall it ever choking on a shell, and that includes several flats of the cheapest target loads. In addition to the reliability, all of the Beretta's that I've shot were significantly softer than any Benelli's I've tried.

I'd roll with a newer A300, A400, used 391, A390, AL390, or A303 any day, and never look back.

1100s can be nice, but the gas system on them requires more maintenance than Beretta for sure.

I know lots of guys love their Benelli's, and they make a good shotgun no doubt, but for me Beretta auto's just work more reliably with a wider range of loads, and recoil less.

My 2c. :)
