Shot Show

Can a person such as myself who does not have a FFL go to the shot show? Does he have to be invited or tag along with someone who does have a FFL. I'd like to know. I've wanted to go for many years but do not have the contacts.

From the NSSF web site on the shot show www.shotshow.org

Attendance at the SHOT Show is RESTRICTED to the shooting, hunting and outdoor trade and commercial buyers and sellers of military, law enforcement and tactical products and services ONLY. The show is not open to the public, and NO one under age 16 shall be admitted (including infants).

I have been to other trade shows and basically the same rules apply..... but I know there are also "guests" allowed. I briefly read the rules at shot show .org and there is also a provision for "guests".
There has to be a way for someone who is trying to get "in the business" to attend the Shot Show.

Last year (2011) the Show tightened up the registration process. They wanted a current invoice showing products purchased, copy of vendors license, etc. Also sent copies of my NSSF membership cards for my wife and myself. Don't have a FFL but we are in the hunting business with a dog kennel for dogs used in upland bird hunting, and purchase electronic dog collars, etc. that are used in the sport

When I registered about 2 months ago everything went through without a hitch, maybe they saved our "proof" from last year in there system. This year will be my ninth in a row.

apakesha..."There has to be a way for someone who is trying to get "in the business" to attend the Shot Show." There is nothing at the show that will "get you in the business". You will need to become part of the Shooting, Hunting & Outdoor Trade business community (open a business) and then you should have no problem being able to attend.

Until that time comes you will have to make friends with a shop owner and then ask if he would get your show badge for you. I would do whatever it takes to be able to attend, because you can't comprehend the size of the show until you have seen it. Several years ago the NSSF reported that there were 14 miles of isle carpeting put down for the show. Last year I wore a pedometer, first day I walked 10 miles and totaled 29.9 miles for the 4 day show.

We will once again be staying at the Mirage and if there is anyone from here that would like meet for dinner one night, let me know.

The Shot Show has normally been restricted to the Manufactures, Distributors, Vendors, Dealers, Government Purchasing/R&D/Instuctors, and the Press/Media. Any of those who have FFLs, Sales and Use certifficates, Letterhead and Credentials meeting the NSSF criterior can register and buy a pass for attendence.
