Shot Marker Question

After waiting a while for it to come in I used my Shot Marker for the first time today. I had some kids that shoots f class with me and wanted to have a little friendly pair fire competition between them. I watched every video I could and read until my eyes crossed but that option or the match option like Adam shows on his instructional video isn’t listed on mine, and the menu screen he shows has more options (like match options). Do you have to have more than one target for the match screen to open or am I missing something? I know Adam will email me back at some point but figured I’d ask if anyone on here would know. This thing is definitely worth the wait though. So much easier to work in your loads at distance.
Thanks.
Dwayne

You need to install software version 1.20k. It's in the support section on his website.
It has that version in it. I will go back and double check. Thanks for the reply.

@Acyr thats what it is. I seen the first update listed but not the second one. Thanks for the direction. This place is great for stuff just like this. Thank you again.

Same thing happened to me when I received my Shot marker.
I thought it was kinda lame that a product that takes 6 months to ship did not have the latest software updates installed by the manufacturer. Other than that, the folks at Shot Marker and their product are great!

I have not tried to implement the new software yet for a match at our range. However, some of the F-Class folks from Missoula speak highly of the software update, specifically of how it can help track scoring for matches.

Cell phones and computers are never shipped with the current software and need to be updated as soon as recieved. Been that way for years.

I actually put the new update in and it is great.

Please do it. No scorers or cards needed. There is setup required to enter the names of the competitors. It also changes how the user uses it a bit in that you need to log in and it shows only your target but keeps the score under your name and includes it in the running score of the match.

Software updates are nearly weekly for computers/cell phones and they're totally different animals because of all the competition, product volume, security updates, and other business dynamics. This is not the case with Shot Marker, the market for this item has been whittled down to two players with Silver Mountain closing. If I remember correctly the software version of my unit as received was about 2 years old. The latest software update I installed was at least 6 months old.

The software the Shotmarker comes preinstalled with is 1.09.3 April 2020. It is perfectly fine if you never plan to use your tablet for anything other than individual practice.
The other option is 1.20k May 2025 which adds Match and pairfire capabilities.

“Tablet”, don’t you mean AP (access point)? Use your tablet (iPad, smart phone, etc.) on anything as is.

Yes and no. We use club access points for individual and club matches. the problems we ran across many times was when someone used their tablet with the 1.09 software, then came to a club match with us running 1.20 software, the tablet would not display correctly and the shooter had to clear their browser cache to get it to work. Most people have no idea how to do that. Usually older android based systems, but sometimes Apple products did it also. In our case we recommend people to upgrade to the same software we use.

Might be a problem that can be cured. The server should check that the client cached Java script is not “stale”, and if so, down-load the expected version.
