Short barrel

I need help figuring this out. I'm getting different opinions from barrel makers and bullet makers. I going to have a 6 BR barrel put on my XP 100. It will be 15" to 16" long. I will be shooting 100 yard score and group shooting. 67 or so grain, short range bullets will be used. The twist rate charts (I'm guessing, are formulated for longer rifle barrels) am I correct. A 14 twist will only spin the bullet once. Does anyone have any experience with this? Also, does anyone know how many revolutions those weight bullets will need? 1 1/2, 1 1/3, ect. I've been told anywhere from 12 to 14 twist is what I need. That's a wide margin. That's by people I would consider experts. This is the place to find experts also. And plenty of them. So I'm listening to everyone that's knowledgeable. Help please. Thanks in advance for your time and help.

The spin rate of a bullet is determined by the twist rate of the barrel and the velocity of the bullet, not the length of the barrel. With the same velocity and twist rate the bullet will spin at the same RPM in any barrel length.

If you have a general idea what the velocity will be you can use a stability calculator to determine if the bullet will be adequately stabilized. Berger bullets has a good online calculator.

All that said, put a 12 twist on it like Dusty said and you will be fine. Using the correct powder your velocity loss will not be as much as you think versus a 20-22 inch barrel.
