Short Barrel 22-250 Info please!

Alright.....I know it doesn't make much sense but I'm going to give it a try anyway.

I'm going to cut down a older 22-250 barrel to 16" it's a 12 twist.

I'm going to run 52 grain bullets of some kind in it....MAYBE a 64.

I want to have a gun that I can run my suppressor on and keep it very short and handy.

What powders would be a good choice? Would a guy want to go to a faster powder than normal with a short barrel or just keep things the same and use the same load that is working now?

Any experience with a 16-18" 22-250 barrel would be awesome to hear about.

I'd look at data from the single shot pistol section in the Sierra Manual. It's based on a TC Encore with a 15" barrel.

My cousin gets good results out of his encore with H322.

For 52 and 53 grain bullets, the Sierra Manual lists:

AA-2015
RE-7
IMR-3031
H322
H4895

If you got a good load now, Id try that first still.

For a 63 grain bullet, I'm seeing the same powders as listed above with the addition of AA-2495.

And if you're cutting, go to 16 and 1/2" for safety sake. (BATF Safety)

With my 15" 22-250AI I'm getting a fuzz under 3800fps with 55gr noslers and 3350fps with 69gr TMK. Mine's a 9T

Good advice on barrel length.

Good advice on powders. This will end up being an interesting project when it's all done,
However I think it will be a handy coyote calling rig.
