Shooting made easy Camera system?

I purchased one a couple months ago and love it. Tested to 300 yards (I bought the 1 mile unit) and does exactly what it's supposed to do. Personally, the only thing I didn't like was how to position the camera. They send a cheapo plastic stand that really isn't effective, especially if you set the camera up in a wet environment. I modified the unit for use with a tripod and haven't looked back. Following is a picture of my setup.

I had a bullseye cam way back when they first came out. They work, but I bought it thinking it would be great for 1000+ targets. Problem is I was always afraid to stick it out that far for fear I would send a bullet through it because they needed to be setup so close to the target. Sold it a few months back

What do you call close? My camera is set up about 15ft away and at about a 45° angle from the target. I never fear hitting my setup.

If you want to be able too spot holes in a black target it really needs to be closer than 10 ft.

I think you may start thinking a little differently if you would use it at a range that isn't automatic, 300 is nothing. Where these are really beneficial is 1000+ would you feel comfortable sticking your 700$ piece of equipment 10-15 ft away at 1 mile and slinging rounds at it?

I have been looking into the Shotmarker made in Canada. He has cheap, easy to replace components. I would feel better hitting a 40$ sensor than a 700$ plastic box full of electronics.

One thing is true, holes in black are much harder to see, but on their website it states that high contrast targets work much better. Many people use this out past 1000 yards without a problem, but SME also sells insurance just for the possibility of someone taking out their system. What I don't feel comfortable with is that currently Shotmarker is $700.00 and Midway is selling the Bullseye system for $299.00. Also, setting up Shotmarker requires a custom built framework with sensors, whereas the Bullseye system can be used with any target backer.

I guess it's personal preference as to which system one chooses, but I'm very comfortable and confident with the Bullseye system.

Why not get a piece of AR500 target steel and make a shield. Set it back 10' from your camera and mount it on another tripod.

The steel plate will negatively impact the transmitter’s signal strength. Whether it will prevent connecting to the receiver is unknown...

There is enough cable to set the transmitter further away from the camera that it will not effect the transmitter signal.

Correct, but only the discontinued clearance bullseye is 300$ they no longer make the one pictured above.

Tried that as soon as I got it. You cant protect the box with any metal, it wont broadcast back 100 ft with it. You can set the transmitter outside the box, but your pretty much right back where you started. To each his own, if you feel comfortable you wont hit it have at it. I shoot at a private range with friends, even if I didnt wack it there is no guarantee they wont

Dust shooting bank...

All it cost is some time behind the rake...

That system has been around since the invention of the rifle,,, 2 to 400 ish +++ years if I recall...

The next system costs a few bucks,,, iron gong with gasoline engine knock sensor,,, $7 if I recall...

Mount on back side of gong... The vibration will trip the sensor,,, hook the out put feed wires to a coloured light of your choosing,,, $5...

Life dosen't get any simpler then that you know...

Saved funds can go towards a few new rifles or shooting supplies...

I use the dust bank system since mother nature corrects it everyday,,, no rake required at our shooting spot.

100 to infinity is gooder
