Shooting Cases That Are Below Trim-To-Length

The custom chamber length of my 6x47 is 1.860"(I know the normal length is 1.850") and my cases will be trimmed to 1.835"; are there any inherent problems with this .025" trim to length vs the normal .010"? In a new batch of 300 Lapua cases, the LONGEST one was 1.840", with many between 1.835"-1.840". I usually trim 010" below the OAL; in this case that number would be 1.850", but that obviously isn't going to happen. I also trim every time I reload for consistency.

Anyone have a similar experience with short cases?

The only problem you'll be having with your short cases is you'll be building up carbon in the area between the end of the case, and the end of the chamber..
It will mess with accuracy if you don't stay on top of the cleaning part.......

Yep, Preacher knows. +2

I won the IBS 1000 yard Nationals two gun overall, won the LG overall, won the LG group, and was 6th in LG score in 2011 with Dasher cases that I accedently trimmed WAY, WAY, WAY, WAY to short. :o

Like was mentioned above, watch for carbon buildup.

Hmmm...I've been using LC March 30-06 brass for my 270 reloads, which would be about .046" too short.

I wonder if that's why my 270 accuracy has gone downhill...

Stop wondering, and bet on it..
If you have a Hawkeye bore scope, check it out and you'll see a ring of carbon built up right at the end of the chamber, sometimes it's a chore to remove it...
