Shooting Bench, BR Pivot or Big Shooter?

The title says it all. Any personnal experiences, comments?
Unfortunately, I am unable to examine, test, these units first hand.

I have a 'Big Shooter' bench that works great. I was sceptical at first because of my size, but this thing works great. Very sturdy construction. Takes a few minutes to set up and then it shoot'n time.

My BR Pivot has served me well over the years, I use it on the 4 legs it came with and also built a receiver hitch mount for the top and post to set in. It's easier for me to move around that way without dragging it to a new spot....

Consider this in your choice: One is stamped sheet metal with pins to lose. The other is steel tubing with a casting with no pins to lose. The BRP also has a much larger footprint = more overall stability, and also adjusts for uneven terrain.

I'm very biased on this one. Even the asthetics are in favor of the BRP, at least to me:

About as much fun as you can have wtih your clothes on....with a rifle:

I've been using two BRP Lites since 1998, both have been to many, many PD and ground squirrel funerals. ;D

I have a couple of the Big Shooter benches as well as a War Wagon, and believe it to be the most well engineered bench on the market, I have test rode most of them and being a larger guy myself, this one is the stiffest in my view. The Big Shooter also adjusts for uneven ground, and as far as the BR having a larger footprint that is by necessity of having the seat farther from center. My suggestion is to try them both then make a decision, in the end you are the one sitting on it.

If anybody has or knows of a ORIGNAL BR Pivot for sale I am interested in one. The light model would be a plus.

BR Pivot is the one for me. Used it for the first time last year on PDs....only personal dislike was the pebble finish on the plastic top version. Rubbed a pretty good mark on my right elbow. This year....a Protektor small pillow bag will be the fix.

Gentlemen

Thank you very much for your help/replies. Really tough to decide on which bench without being able to sit the old rump on them.

Rick in Oregon, am I mistaken but aren't you the originator of the BR Pivot?

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't the BR Pivot constructed of aluminum (tubing and castings)?

Also I've read that the Big Shooter is easier to swivel than the BR?

But, thanks again everyone.

That's correct.

The Lite model was 100% T6 alloy, either milled billet or castings. The Std model had rectangular steel tubing legs, the balance was entirely T6 alloy also.

Can't help you on the comparison myself.....never tried the BS bench. HTH a tad. :)

Gentlemen

Ended up buying a used BR Pivot in good shape.

Very nice bench. I don't think I'll be disappointed.

Folds flat to ride in the truck bed. Website has an 8-minute video on assembly. Custom size the top to suit your shooting style. I have used mine to load test out to 300yds, and have killed chucks and a few coyotes out to about 600yds.
