Shooting a .30 BR from a magazine and not as a single shot

Would like to know if anyone has a rifle chambered for a .30 BR that is magazine fed and not a single shot. If you have such a rifle as this, please indicate the action used, if you have experienced any problems and what was the name of the gunsmith who did the work for you. Also, include any loading data and suggestions. My purpose in asking these questions is because I would like to build such a rifle and know what problems there are if any. I want to thank in advance anyone who will be so kind as to take time to respone to this request

While i was waiting for my 30BR to arrive and had all my brass prepared i had a play with my Sako 75VLS 6mmPPC the cases wont fit in bolt but it pushes them out of the mag up starting into the breach so the SAKO may work would work for 6mmBr for sure with the bolt face opened out .020"

Aussie Bob,

I really appreciate your taking the time to send the information
re. the 30 BR feed question. Let me know what happens when you assemble your rifle.

Mac,

Read this article on Fabian Muller's SAKO. He runs 6BRs in a SAKO 6PPC action slightly modified. Some minor mods to the feedramp area might be required for the 30BR. Otherwise you could follow his lead: http://www.6mmbr.com/gunweek009.html

Thanks Moderator that is one story that i had missed and am very glad it has been pointed out to me.
My Sako 75VLS 6mmPPC shoots very well but not good enough for comp and i have been toying with putting it into a dedicated benchrest stock and rechambering to a tighter 6mmPPC chamber maybe even a new Benchrest Barrel in 1>14TW after reading that story i think i will.
And Mac i am not makeing the Sako into 30BR have had a 30BR built on a single shot Barnard Action Pac-Nor barrel Mastin Stock, arrived yesterday And is looking good so far will fire the first round on Wednesday.

Many thanks to Aussie Bob and our Editor in Chief. Perhaps some of the good folks out there can lend further comment on the subject.I suppose that from a financial and practical point of view it may make more sense to go this route: Take a good custom single shot action with a set up for light weight varminter for score, but removeable from the bench rest stock. Then, have the action, barrel and trigger placed in a nice looking wooden stock and used as a single shot deer rifle.Undoubtedly,a compromise would have to be made regarding the barrel weight. Even so, a person could have some fun in Varmint for score compitition,do some varmint hunting, and then,go deer hunting. So, fellow shooters, what do you think of this plan in lieu of a magazine fed .30 BR rifle? And also, who makes a nice looking custom action that would fit this concept. As always, your comments are most welcome!

Re the last suggestion--

One nice thing about the 30BR is that with H4198, you really don't give up much velocity with a 21-22" barrel. So you could make a real accurate hunting rifle, that would balance well even with a fat barrel. A 120-gr partition-style bullet going 2950+ would be more than adequate for deer.

As to what action to use, that all depends on what your budget allows. The Surgeon and Stiller's new Predator are two that come to mind.
