Shooting .308 in Benchrest

I shoot an .308 in BR with an 28" barrel, factory neck, factory chamber.
Aol= 2,90" with an 170 grain Lapua lockbase.Shooting N150 will shoot ok with about 45-46 grain, but I want to know what you guys would do with such a set-up?
Lapua case, CCI BR2 primer, also tested N140....

Hope somebody can help me out?

Paul

Who would have the time to go through hundreds of thousands of posts that are 6 months old to delete the few that aren't replied to.... and why - it isn't hurting anything??

I think the bigger question is why anyone would reply to a post from 08/30/06 ????

Paul, you may not like what I will write here, but you have yourself a good practice rifle, being a factory rifle.

Not saying it want shoot. But to be competitive you need an edge over factory. Get your self a good barrel, and have the action trued up, change the trigger to a trigger that gives a repeatable trigger break and you will see your scores go up. as far as load data. Varget, Imr4895, H4895, N150, N140 and a few other powders work fine with cci BR2 primers ,and some rifles like the Fed210match better. But you will have to try them to see what your particular rifle likes. Reloading technique is also a part of the equation.

I believe the more consistent you can be, the better your groups will be. And 1 major factor your skill at rifle handling. And at some time we have all had to learn that.

But any how welcome and don't feel afraid to ask questions. There are no stupid ones, just unknown to some one new. and there a lot of good guys on here..Merry Christmas to you and if I can be of any help pm me

JP

Uuuh, JP...
