YES, CANADIAN NATIONAL GUN REGISTRATION is OUT! - BUT,-
you STILL are REQUIRED TO HAVE POSSESSION LICENCE! more in a sec.
FIRST, you will need USA form 4457 TO GET BACK INTO THE STATES!!!! to get it completed [after download] stop at the US side of the border, or any other border & customs office - with you fireams - for verification - and get it signed off!! on returning to the USA, you will have to present the form.

now CANADA, you will need either a PAL or Form 909. a PAL [possession and acquisition license.] requires a safety course [unless challenged], exam, and fee [80.00] good for 5 years. that's all you will need to enter, no registration - may inspect your guns.

FORM 909 this form can be downloaded [see link], fill out, BUT DO NOT SIGN! must be signed in front of customs officer!!! you must list you guns [up to 3] on the form. if more than 3, use form 910. cost - $25.00, document good for 1 year.
a copy of the form will be kept at the border crossing. make sure they give you a CONFIRMATION # on the form. you will now have 60 day max. in CANADA with those described guns!!!! if for any reason you leave CANADA before the 60 days are up, - the 60 day period ENDS! WHEN YOU RETURN TO CANADA you will need/get a a NEW confirmation # [and 60 day period].
