Shipping Overseas

Anyone have any expierence in shipping stocks and scopes overseas from U.S.? Australia and Scotland for example.And also how to receive funds from foreign buyers.

Just spent 6 monthw fighting with Customs and Border Protection on this very topic. The current administrations interpretation of the International Trafficing in Arms Regulation (ITAR) is that stocks fall under the definition of firearms.

Argue all you want that a stock is not a firearm, is just a shaped piece of wood etc. I made them all in writting and registered letters. In the end I considered myself lucky that they finally "released" my stock back to for a $50 fine.

Others have not had this issue but I did. Recommend serious consideration before you ship

I was going to respond top this one as soon as I saw the topic, but arshooter's already got it pretty well covered. Beware the ITAR regs. You wouldn't believe how broad the net is that this stuff covers. What makes it worse is that some stocks would be perfectly acceptable to send overseas, as would many scopes. On the other hand, some are listed as restricted that are nearly indistiguishable from approved items.

Hey, it's the government. Doesn't have to make sense.
