As a previous poster said schedule a home pickup if you are shipping UPS and all goes well, there is a slight additional charge but it is far less than the cost of gas driving to their depot.
The people working the counter at the franchise stores panic when you say you are shipping firearms, ammunitions, and anything else gun-related. They will swear up and down the UPS will not and never has accepted shipments like that. The last time I shipped something gun related was a barrel for a 50 cal BMG and the guy said they would ship any barrel accept a 50 BMG so I wrote 12.7 mm Browing MG barrel and all was good. After that I decided UPS pickups or USPS was the way to go.
