Shilen twist barrel question

I just purchased a Shilen CM 6mm barrel with the No. 8 contour and a 10 twist.

I'm having second thoughts on the 10 twist. My plan was to be able to push up to 120 grain bullets.

My round of choice is the 6 x 47 Lapua and realistically I'm thinking 85-115 grain bullets are going to fine.

Should I call Shilen and go with another twist? If so what do you recommend?

If you are talking about hunting bullets, the 10 twist is fine, but the heavy VLD's require a faster twist. BTW, buy your barrels from The Barrel Man or Bruno's and you won't pay near the prices listed on the Shilen site.

My goal is to get into the 500 yard club on rats, digger squirrels) and then to get into the 1000 yard club some day as well with the same gun.

I'm not a paper puncher just yet.

The rats and yotes aren't going to like this rifle I can assure you of that. :)

My barrel was $230 shipped-I thought that was pretty good. I'll have to go check out the places you mentioned.

Shilen is a good company and I don't think you will have a problem. Thing is that they can't undercut their suppliers which include Midway, Brownell's and others that have higher prices.
